OCC Independent Foreclosure Review

The 14 largest mortgage servicers have begun contacting eligible borrowers to explain how to request a case review if they believe they suffered financial injury because of errors, misrepresentations or other deficiencies in the foreclosure process between Jan. 1, 2009, and Dec. 31, 2010. Requests for review must be filed by April 30, 2012. For more information, visit www.IndependentForeclosureReview.com. NOTE: The web address is case sensitive. An all lowercase entry will take borrowers to a non-official site. Help with requesting a review and answers to questions about the process are available at 1-888-952-9105.

Foreclosure Prevention
The FDIC has a resource here to help homeowners avoid foreclosure. This information helps borrowers know who to contact and what they need to have to apply for a loan modification that could save their home.

Georgia Department of Community Affairs
Georgia Department of Community Affairs State of Georgia housing finance authority providing affordable mortgage finance and down payment options to low to moderate income home buyers. One of the programs providing assistance to borrowers directly is the HomeSafe Georgia program.

HOPE NOW
The HOPE NOW Alliance seeks to boost outreach efforts to homeowners in distress helping them stay in their homes. (Add a note about this including the largest 29 (I think) mortgage servicers in the country. That should be somewhere in their About Hope Now info)

Making Home Affordable
The U.S. Government has two programs that may help homeowners avoid foreclosure through its Making Home Affordable initiative.

    1.       The Home Affordable Refinance Program gives homeowners with loans owned or guaranteed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac an opportunity to refinance into more affordable monthly payments.
    2.       The Home Affordable Modification Program commits $75 billion to keep up to 3 to 4 million Americans in their homes by preventing avoidable foreclosures.
