The Setting
Welcome to Charleston!
Surrounded by a coastal plain of sparkling beaches, spacious
marshes, and palmetto trees, Charleston, South Carolina is a city
rich in history, tradition, and Southern culture. She retains much of
her historical charms: cobblestone streets, horse and carriage rides,
gas lamps, gated courtyards - all maintaining the regal charm of
yesteryear.
Well-known for her grand live oaks draped with
Spanish moss, cascading window boxes bursting with color, and wrought
iron gates, she is also home of antebellum plantations, Rainbow Row,
Fort Sumter,
Patriot’s Point and the
Citadel, just to name a few.
The
city is also still an important port, boasting the second largest
container seaport on the East Coast and the fourth largest in North
America. A stately old girl, Charleston dons her historic pearls and
decked in all her glorious history, wakes to greet the 21st century
anew.
Charleston Place is our convention home this year. Located in the heart
of Charleston, it is just minutes from famous homes, museums and
churches. The accommodations, award-winning dining and service make this
the preferred destination for business, group and leisure travelers.
