Southern Operations & Technology School

Bank operations are

exposure by:
-
strengthening management skills
-
increasing awareness of the regulatory and compliance
issues that affect banking today;
-
exposing participants to current technologies and
products in the financial services industry;
-
developing an understanding of the interrelatedness of
key operations areas and how they contribute to the bank's
profitability; and
-
promoting an understanding of other functional areas of
the bank and how bank operations units relate to them.

Home Study
Assignment
Between
the on-campus sessions, school participants must complete a Home Study
Assignment. This home study project reinforces concepts learned during
the on-campus sessions. The assignment consists of researching and
writing a paper defining an organizational problem or actionable project
including recommendations for implementation. Satisfactory completion of
the project is a prerequisite for admission to the second-year session
of the school.
Graduation Requirements
Completion of the program is based upon satisfactory performance in
class discussions, examinations, home study problems and any other
assignments. Students who successfully complete the course will be
awarded diplomas. Graduation exercises for the graduation class of 2011
will be held at mid-day on Friday, May 6.
Awards
To encourage and reward exceptional work, awards are presented to
outstanding students of the Southern Operations & Technology School.
Honor Graduate Awards are presented to students who complete the best
home study work in a timely manner.
Continuing Education Units
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are granted to participants who
satisfactorily complete approved non-degree programs. CEUs are
calculated on the basis of one CEU for each ten contact hours of the
program. Participants of the Southern Operations & Technology School
will receive approximately 3.6 CEUs.
Further information about CEUs may be obtained from your class
coordinator while attending the Southern Operations & Technology School.
Tuition and Refund Policy
Member tuition for the 2011 session of the Southern Operations &
Technology School is $1,650.
Applicants from member banks of other state associations may attend the
school at the member rate.
Tuition includes all instruction, supplemental materials, room and
board, and refreshment breaks.
Due to space constraints at the Georgia Center for Continuing
Education, two students will be assigned to each room. If a single room
is requested, a surcharge of $275 will be added to the tuition fee.
Requests for private rooms will be honored on a space available basis.
If it becomes
necessary for an accepted student to withdraw from the school, the
following formula will be used for refunds: beyond six weeks from the
start of the school - 100%; six weeks - 75%; three weeks - 50%; one week
- 25%; no shows - 0%.
