Onsite Director Education
and Development

Program Content
As Directors fall under increasing regulatory scrutiny, financial institutions must implement programs of continuing education for their Directors.  The Georgia Bankers Association has designed three exclusive onsite offerings with the objective of expanding each Director’s knowledge and experience by tailoring educational programs to each unique board and institution.  These programs are designed for both “inside” and “outside” members of the Board, as well as executive officers.  By participating in GBA’s Director Education program, your bank’s Directors and Management will better understand key oversight issues and how they relate to your institution’s performance.

De Novo Director Seminar
The De Novo Director Seminar is a full day session that focuses on the Board activities considered essential by both regulators and industry experts.  This seminar is the first step to regulatory compliance as it centers on topics for the new Board member.

Board “Refresher” Seminar
This half or full day session focuses on current industry trends and regulations.  GBA will customize a program that can include the following topics:

  • Trends in the financial services industry

  • Role, duties, and expectations of a Bank Director

  • Financial analysis: ratios, trends and indicators

  • Risk Management

  • Strategic Planning

  • The Board’s Role in managing technology

  • Characteristics of high performance institutions

  • The impact of Sarbanes-Oxley and Gramm-Leach-Bliley

  • Asset quality and loan administration

  • The Board’s role in succession planning

Quarterly Board Review
The Quarterly Board Review is a two to three hour session that can focus on the following topics:

  • Quarterly financial overview

  • Risk management

  • Compliance

  • Corporate governance

  • Industry trends
