The Georgia Bankers Association represents the banking industry to members of the Georgia General Assembly, members of the U.S. Congressional delegation and various state agencies.

The U.S. Congress has been extremely active on all issues of interest to our members.


Following is a list of the most important issues currently under consideration.  As new legislation is introduced, we will update this page with links to more information about the issue.

Priorities for Strengthening Georgia's Banking Environment

  • Support issues that protect real estate values.

  • Support initiatives to help conserve and replenish bank capital.

  • Support policy and regulatory actions that stabilize banks.

  • Support policy and regulatory actions that enable lending and foster job creation.
