January 2007
Welcome to the inaugural
issue of GBA's e-version of Leadership Note$. In
response to feedback from our readers, we are replacing the printed
version of this publication with an emailed version. We trust
the interactive features with click-through links will be of
benefit.
We will use this
publication to tell you about Leadership GBA initiatives, bankers
involved in making a difference in people's lives, and resources you
can use in your bank and community.
With suggestions
about the publication or inquiries about how you can become more
active with Leadership GBA, please contact GBA's

Developing Tomorrow's
Leaders Today
The
bankers active in Leadership GBA
are committed to developing the future leaders of the banking
industry. As the makeup of the banking industry continues to change,
Leadership GBA focuses not only on recognizing those changes, but also
on understanding their implications and translating the information
into useful knowledge.
Whether you are a banker seeking to increase your banking knowledge,
needing resources to make presentations in your community, or finding
your first volunteer opportunity with your industry's trade
association, Leadership GBA is the place to be.

The beginning of a new
year is the perfect time to make arrangements to visit your local
classrooms and support the
Personal
Economics Program
(PEP). Make plans now to participate in Career Day, National Teach
Children to Save Day and other school activities. The
PEP program reaches all students from kindergarten through college by
educating them on financial skills and the use of banking services.
These presentations can also be reported as
PEP contacts and your
participation will enhance your bank’s community.
GBA has PEP materials
and brochures available to assist you with your presentations. Topics
include personal financial management, credit responsibilities and many
others. If you would like to receive a
PEP Kit containing samples of these materials, please contact GBA’s
Jennifer Stevens at
(404)
420-2024. Or
click here to review the PEP resources we recommend.
Also, make sure you and
your bank are given the credit it’s due. When you return from a
presentation at your school or any other group, remember to
complete a PEP
Report Card on our website. By reporting your visits and
presentations, you help us know how you are helping meet the growing
financial education needs in the state of Georgia. We hear you're
making the presentations - just take a minute to let us know.
