GBA Roundtables

Check the GBA Calendar of Events for Upcoming Roundtable Dates

Getting your job done as a banker in today's environment presents challenging opportunities. And, no one knows your business and your job like another banker. Our GBA-U roundtables allow enlightened executives to turn to one another for ideas, information and support.

You don't have to test every idea for yourself or rely solely on internal resources and your own experiences to come up with creative solutions to difficult problems. We have four sets of peer roundtables to suit a variety of executive development needs.

President / CEO Roundtables

Running a bank has never been more challenging. You need all the insight, experience and ideas you can get. In an age of information saturation when bankers can turn to any number of sources for problem solving, the peer connections and in-depth discussions from these roundtables is a powerful tool for Georgia's top bank executives. There are four roundtable groups for bank chief executive officers, and each meets twice a year. The membership in each peer group kept to a small group from non-competing markets. These peer groups are professionally facilitated by Elaine Demarest, president of Demarest Strategy Group, Inc., Hilton Head, SC. GBA staff assists Elaine in administering membership in the groups but does not attend the meetings. See 2024 session dates here.

Finance/Operations Roundtables

The Finance and Operations functions are critical to success in community banks. Senior finance, operations and technology officers have responsibilities for ever broadening and increasingly complex issues. There are three roundtable groups for bank senior finance, operations or technology officers, with each meeting twice a year. These peer groups are professionally facilitated by Elaine Demarest, president of Demarest Strategy Group, Inc., Hilton Head, SC. GBA staff assists Elaine in administering membership in the groups but does not attend the meetings. See 2024 session dates here.

Leadership Roundtables

A strong pipeline of new banking leaders is critical for your bank and our industry in Georgia to develop our next generation of well-trained executives. Invest in strengthening your bank’s future by participating in GBA’s Leadership Roundtables. These roundtables provide an in-depth look at bank management practices and industry trends to keep you in the know. The unique peer connections forged from a well-organized roundtable can be essential for bankers whose career paths are developing toward becoming our industry CEOs and other top executives. This roundtable will help leaders expand their resource pool beyond their own experiences to consider creative solutions to tough problems. These peer groups are professionally facilitated by Elaine Demarest, president of Demarest Strategy Group, Inc., Hilton Head, SC. To participate in a Leadership Roundtable, an individual must be a senior level staff member of the institution and participation must be pre-approved by his/her president/CEO. GBA staff helps Elaine in administering membership in the groups but does not attend the meetings. There are three GBA Leadership Roundtables, and each meets twice a year in Macon. See 2024 session dates here.
