Reliance met each criteria that the GBA
considered in finding a company to recommend to their member banks,
including:
- having a corporate strategy that did
not represent a future direct competitive threat as an acquirer of
community banks;
- providing another distribution
method for GBA's larger banks' sponsored or managed mutual funds in
addition to the more traditional mutual funds; and
- representing an alternative to
leasing space to a company whose employees are not under direct
supervision of the bank.
Reliance brings a unique approach in
dealing with banks operating in the background and providing sales
training to bank staff. They do not use a cookie-cutter method in
furnishing services to banks, but rather work individually with banks to
customize a plan that fits the long-range goals and allows them to
continue building customer relationships.
