President/CEO Roundtable
Make Your Bank
Stronger with the Help of Your Peers
Running a
bank has never been tougher. You need all the insight, experience and
ideas you can get. No one knows your business and your job like another
banker. In an age of information saturation when bankers can turn to
any number of sources for problem solving, the enlightened executives
turn to one another. You don't have to test every idea for yourself or
rely solely on internal resources and your own experiences to come up
with creative solutions to tough problems. That's what the
President/CEO Roundtable is all about.
How the Roundtables work
Each Roundtable will be organized based on bank size and market to
ensure participants have common characteristics but meaningful diversity
without being competitors. Roundtables will meet three times during the
year with dates chosen by the members. The members also select agenda
topics. The facilitator is responsible for coordinating meeting
details, providing resources and handout materials, and guiding the
group discussion. GBA will assist the facilitator in organizing the
groups but will not be represented at the meetings.
Directing the Roundtable Discussions
We are especially pleased that the Roundtables are being facilitated
by longtime Georgia banker, Mike Odom. Mike is well-known in banking
circles and has been active in GBA over the years, most recently
chairing our Community Bankers Committee. Mike brings 20 years of
broad-based bank management to the Roundtables. After graduating from
Georgia Southern University with a degree in accounting, he spent 10
years with what was then Trust Company Bank of Southeast Georgia,
Brunswick, as a Commercial Lender and Lending Group Manager. He joined
Bryan Bank & Trust in Richmond Hill as Executive Vice President and
Senior Credit Officer and was later named President and Chief Operating
Officer. He served in a similar capacity at the holding company, The
Savannah Bancorp, Inc., before being named CEO.
