Georgia Banks Loaned $26 Billion in 2009

: GAO Asked to Study Bank Supervision
Two prominent Congressmen have asked for an independent study of bank exam practices and how the current regulatory environment is affecting commercial lending, particularly commercial real estate and small business lending. House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and Rep. Walt Minnick (D-Idaho) last week asked the Government Accountability Office to assess whether bank examiners are being "unreasonably conservative or arbitrary" in their supervision of community banks. Important Call Report Revisions Noted

Regulators distributed a financial institution letter (FIL) Thursday reminding banks about several important revisions to the Consolidated Reports of Condition and Income (Call Report) for the March 31, 2010, report date. Except for certain banks with foreign offices, your completed Call Report must be received by Friday, April 30, 2010. No extensions of time for submitting Call Report data are granted. Enhanced SBA Lending Extended to April 30
President Obama last week signed legislation extending the U.S. Small Business Administration's enhancements to its two largest small business loan programs through April 30. GA Subsidizes 20,000 Jobs through Sept. 2010
