State Legislative Update: It's Over... Finally

Reg. Reform: Senate Bill Moves to Floor Debate
The full Senate has taken up its big financial regulatory reform bill (S. 3217) as Republican leaders late Wednesday ended negotiations about a number of provisions in the package. "There's no doubt in our minds that both sides want a bill to pass -- and so do we. The question is whether they can pass the right reform bill," said GBA Chairman Andy Williams, President, United Community Bank, Blairsville. "The Georgia Bankers Association opposed passage of the bill in the House, and we are opposed to the current Senate version. We appreciate both Sen. Chambliss and Sen. Isakson and their staffs for working closely with us to ensure your views are being heard, and they are making every effort to include those views in any legislation that eventually passes."
