 Georgia Congressional Delegation Members Part of Leadership
As the U.S. Congress reconvened in Washington, D.C., for its
lame duck session, members of both chambers began electing their
new leadership for the next Congress that will convene in
January. Of particular note,
Rep.-elect Austin Scott (R-GA 8) was elected President of
the Congressional freshmen class.

Isakson Highlights GBA Government Relations, Member Update
Conference Call
 We
appreciate U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson for taking time to
join a special GBA Government Relations and Member Update
conference call Tuesday. About 100 bankers dialed in for the
conference call. The Senator outlined some of the priorities for
Congress in the next six weeks.(Listen

Support for FSA Legislation
 GBA
President and CEO Joe Brannen sent a
letter to the Georgia congressional delegation this week
requesting their support for legislation to extend suspension of
borrower term limits for the USDA Farm Service Agency guaranteed farm loan programs,
which expire Dec. 31.

Fed Announces Large-Bank Capital Guidelines, New Stress Tests
The Federal Reserve Board Wednesday issued guidelines for
evaluating proposals by large bank holding companies to
undertake capital actions in 2011, such as increasing dividend
payments or repurchasing or redeeming stock.

Calculator Available
We reported last week about the proposed new FDIC insurance rate
assessment system. The agency has updated its
online rate calculator
to help banks estimate their assessments under the proposed
system.
