Bank Security Academy
The GBA
Security Committee recognized that a void exists in our profession
with regard to the education and training available to security officers
to provide them with the basic skills necessary to effectively manage
their responsibilities. The Committee further determined that no
minimum standards currently exist regarding what a modern bank security
officer should know and what “normal and customary” methods are in use
among our peers to address security-related issues.
About the
Bank Security Academy
GBA’s
Security Committee is proud to announce the formation of the Bank
Security Academy. The Security Committee has carefully planned the
curriculum which includes topics that every security officer should be
trained in. These topics include: bank robbery procedures, physical
security, employee investigations, effective information security
management, fraud, and compliance. The Academy consists of 5 sessions
scheduled throughout the year plus the annual conference (required).
Each session is priced separately.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate from the Academy, you must meet all the curriculum
requirements within 2 years and pass the exam.
Once you have met the curriculum requirement, you can apply to sit for
the exam, which will be offered at the end of each session or by
appointment at the GBA office. The application fee of $50.00 will cover
transcript confirmation, examination grading, and a framed certificate.
