Sponsored by the Leadership Development Section, the annual Leadership Conference is an event not to be missed. The conference is designed to provide a forum through which young career bankers from around the state of Georgia can meet and learn from each other and hear presentations from industry experts, regulatory representatives, and professional speakers. Attending the conference are career bankers from member banks as well as associate members. Spouses and guests are invited to participate in all events.
The Georgia Bankers Association established the Young Bankers Section in 1958. Now called Leadership GBA, we are committed to developing the future leaders of the banking industry. As the makeup of the banking industry continues to change, Leadership GBA focuses not only on recognizing those changes, but also on understanding their implications and translating the information into useful knowledge.
The goals of Leadership GBA are to promote leadership development, encourage public awareness of the banking industry, create networking opportunities, and educate colleagues about the legislative process. The 45th Annual Leadership Conference contributes tremendously in achieving those goals. The Executive Committee has planned a great program you won’t want to miss. To help you manage the constant changes in our industry, you will receive important information on the economy, participate in roundtable discussions and obtain excellent leadership training. An elected official from the Georgia Legislature or a key staff member from the state or congressional level will be on hand to discuss current banking and business issues. Also joining us this year is George Schloegel, President & CEO of Hancock Bank in Gulfport, Mississippi. Mr. Schloegel, will share his personal principles of leadership and how to effectively manage yourself as well as others. Spouses are encouraged to attend this session.
The Leadership Conference also provides an excellent opportunity for you to network with your colleagues throughout the state. Several social and sporting events have been planned to allow you to meet and share ideas with your fellow bankers.
