Q: What was your first job, and was there a lesson you learned during that time that you still use today?
A: My first job was working at a Carmike movie theatre in Columbus, GA. I started in the concession stand, then moved to the box office, later became a projectionist, assistant manager and then opened up a new 15 screen theatre. The biggest lesson I learned and still use to this day is accountability. If I didn’t show up or do something I needed to do, it could be a big deal and frankly wasn’t acceptable. To this day, it is instilled in me that if I commit to something, it will happen!
Q: What was the most useful piece of advice you received in your career?
A: I had a manager a long time ago that would always teach with a “why”. She would show me why things are done in a certain way instead of just telling me to do it. It always helped me understand the importance of work that was being done and made me understand and appreciate it better instead of just going through the motions.
Q: Tell us about one experience you’ve had that exemplifies being a banker or your role at the bank.
A: Recently one of our Treasury team members was at a conference and forgot her business cards. She reached out to me to see if I could create something for her in a whim. I was able to pull together a digital QR code that had all of her contact info and sent it over to her within a few minutes. She was thrilled at the quick turn around and was able to make the contacts she needed.
Q: What would someone be surprised to learn about you?
A: I was once in a firework commercial that would air every 4th of July and New Years for about 5-6 years 😊 (Big Momma’s Fireworks)
