Q: What was your first job, and was there a lesson you learned there that you still use today?
A: My first job as an adult was at a finance company. I always knew I loved numbers. I enjoyed reviewing credit and being able to help individuals with their credit needs while learning about finances at a very young age. I enjoyed learning to look at our income statement and learning exactly what that meant. I believe this was a perfect foundation for my career in banking.

Q: What was the most useful piece of advice you received in the early/formative years of your career?
A: In the world of compliance, it’s safe to say we aren’t the most popular of positions. We often must deliver corrective actions and refreshers. My most valuable advice received is to always “close with a rose”. You may have to tell someone they are doing something incorrectly and give them the corrections and I always find a way to “close with a rose” to make the email or conversation a positive learning experience. It is important that you do not make others feel beat up or that “oh no, compliance has emailed me..what have I done now?” I fully believe in lifting people up, training, and making sure everyone knows compliance isn’t a bad thing. It protects us, the bank, and the customer.

Q: Tell us more about one experience you’ve had that exemplifies being a banker or your role at the bank.
A: My most recent, enjoyable story is of Halloween 2023. Our bank participated in a local trunk or treat. Rather than giving out candy we gave out financial information on being a “saver” and gave each child that card and a fifty-cent piece to jumpstart their savings. The parents and especially the kids were so excited over the big coin and that planted their first little seed of financial information.

Q: When you’re not on the job at the bank, what do you like to do?
A: I enjoy spending time with my husband and four children. I always enjoy a good adventure. Whether it be to a new town, local festivals, or mini vacations.

Q: Pet peeve?
A: My biggest pet peeve would have to be the use of umm and uhh when speaking.

Q: Most used app?
A: I enjoy NYT daily puzzles app. Specifically, Wordle and Connections.

Q: TV show or series you love?
A: I love to binge watch. My current favorite would have to be Suits.
