Q: With over 30 years of experience under your belt now, will you share a little insight about how you chose banking as a career?

My mother was a banker for many years in Cobb County and my brother was a career banker also.  I guess it was in my blood.  I found community banking to be rewarding and challenging due to the opportunities afforded me to change job roles and learn different functions within the bank.

Q: What's your favorite part of any given day working for the bank?

The professionals that I work with each day and the great management of our bank.

Q: What is the biggest challenge for you as a bank compliance officer right now?

Time and resources.

Q: How have you benefited from your participation on GBA Committees and at GBA events like the upcoming Compliance Conference scheduled Sept. 20-22?

The knowledge which I have gained from the conferences has been invaluable through the years, as well as the networking and friendships made.  Compliance professionals love to help one another by sharing their experiences and tools to make our jobs easier.  GBA is a great resource for learning and sharing through our compliance school, peer group meetings, seminars, and our fall compliance conference.

Q: When you’re not on the job fulfilling your First Landmark Bank or GBA duties, what do you like to do?

I am very active in my church in the music ministry and play piano or keyboard.  I also love to read.
