Q: What led you to a career in banking?
A: I’ve always been intrigued by finance and the flow of money. After college, I began working with my father in the family business for a couple of years before I began a career as a stock broker with A.G. Edwards & Sons. In 2008, Bank of Terrell (now Georgia Community Bank) approached me about joining their team as a banker and I’ve been here ever since.

Q: What was the most useful piece of advice you received from a mentor (or in the early/formative years of your career)?
A: Growing up, my father would always tell me to “Do what is right, not what is easy”.

Q: Tell us about one experience you’ve had that exemplifies being a banker or your role at the bank.
A: Anytime I see a customer excel or make a difference within our community, and to know that we helped or contributed to their success, makes this job special. In my banking career, the two instances where I saw the banking industry go above and beyond firsthand was during the pandemic with the rollout of PPP loans and in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, which affected most of Southwest Georgia in 2018. In both cases, we were tested as bankers but, in the end, we helped our communities come out stronger and more prepared for the next challenge.

Q: What would someone be surprised to learn about you?
A: I’m a 3rd generation banker. My grandfather was a loan collector in the 1960s and my mother was a CSR in the 1970s. They both worked at the bank that I work with now.
